The Viagrow Soilless Media Coco VCCB5 11 lb 5kg Coconut Coir BrickBlock is an alternative to peat moss soil median that is perfect for rooting fig cuttings. The quality of the order may vary, as some customers have noted that the fibers are longer, and there is more dust. It must be rehydrated and pasteurized, which can be a pain. The coir is not treated with calcium nitrate and is not buffered, although some customers have noted that the package had BUFFERED written on it. Some batches may have powdery mildew, which can be eliminated by microwaving to kill any pathogens. The block takes 20-30 minutes to completely break down with several gallons of water. Some customers noted that the 2nd brick was unusable, full of sand and peat that washed away.
